HR Specialist

About the Role

We're looking for an HR Specialist to join our growing team at Fieldgates. As our first dedicated HR hire, you'll play a foundational role in shaping our people operations — from recruitment and onboarding to culture building and employee development.

This is a unique opportunity to build HR processes from the ground up in a fast-growing digital services company. You'll work directly with leadership to create an environment where talented people do their best work.

What You'll Do

  • Recruitment: Own the full hiring process — writing job descriptions, sourcing candidates, coordinating interviews, and extending offers for roles across our digital marketing, design, and operations teams
  • Onboarding: Design and manage a best-in-class onboarding experience that sets new hires up for success from day one
  • People Operations: Manage employee records, benefits administration, and compliance with Ontario employment standards
  • Culture & Engagement: Help build and maintain a positive, inclusive workplace culture through programs, events, and feedback initiatives
  • Performance Management: Support managers with performance review processes, goal setting, and development planning
  • Policy Development: Create and maintain HR policies that are fair, clear, and aligned with our values
  • Employee Relations: Serve as a trusted resource for team members on workplace matters

What We're Looking For

  • 3+ years of HR experience, preferably in a small-to-mid-sized company or agency environment
  • Knowledge of Ontario employment standards and Canadian labor law
  • Experience with full-cycle recruitment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive matters with discretion and professionalism
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, evolving environment where processes are still being built
  • CHRP designation is an asset but not required
